Political Issues

From time to time the Association has campaigned on issues that are important to War Widows. Many of these campaigns have been successful and have brought significant advantages to our members and others in receipt of the War Widows' Pension. You will often see articles in the media and announcements made by government on matters concerning war widows.

For information on the occasions when the Association has been mentioned in debates in parliament or in announcements by ministers in the House of Commons you can consult www.parliament.uk. You will need to know approximately the date on which the announcement or debate took place.

Coroners Inquests

The Association is actively working to try and bring about improvements in the system so that all families are satisfied with the outcome of their inquest and have confidence that it uncovered the truth. We also believe that families need to be properly supported throughout.

There have been some positive stories and many next of kin have been very satisfied with the whole process. We can learn from these as well as from the ones where families feel it has not gone well.
